UCL: Di Lorenzo Backs ‘Champion’ Osimhen To Help Napoli Stop Barcelona

Napoli captain, Giovanni Di Lorenzo praised Victor Osimhen for helping Napoli salvaged a draw against Barcelona in their UEFA Champions League on Wednesday night.

Osimhen, who was making his first appearance for the Partenopei since returning from the Africa Cup of Nations scored 15 minutes from time to cancel out Robert Lewandowski’s opener for Barcelona.

Lewandowski broke the deadlock on the hour mark, drilling low into the near bottom corner after he was set up by Amir Rrahmani.

However, Osimhen equalised with his last kick of the game, just before he was hauled off for Giovanni Simeone.

The Nigerian showed good strength to turn Inigo Martinez just inside the penalty area on an Andre Frank Zambo Anguissa through ball and fired in from 14 yards.

It was the forward’s first goal in the UEFA Champions League this season.

“Osimhen is a champion and he returned with the right mindset. He will give us a hand, just as Simeone and Raspadori will, now the coach has a lot of options to choose from,” Di Lorenzo said after the game.

The reverse fixture will hold at the Nou Camp on March 12.
