Residents of Anua community have been thrown into mourning following the gruesome murder of a young lady, whose decapitated body without the upper abdomen, was discovered tucked in a ‘Ghana – Must – Go’ bag and dumped by the fence of Boys Primary School by her assailants.

This is coming barely a week after a lady was beheaded and dumped in a farmland around Banking Layout in Uyo, the state capital.

Comrade Emmanuel Ekong, a shocked student of UNIUYO, who spoke to newsmen, could not ascertain whether the deceased was a student of the institution because of her dismembered remains.

“We woke up this early Monday morning to discover a trunk of a young lady inside a ‘Ghana – Must – Go’ bag, chopped – off from the waist and the other part of the body from the waist to the head taken away by her killers. So, we can’t really identify whether she’s our fellow student, maybe later”, Ekong said.

“Early this morning, female body parts were found slaughtered and dumped in a ‘Ghana – Must – Go’ bag at the entrance to the Boys School, Anua, Nwaniba Road, Uyo, just before the Ekpri Nsukara junction. It’s pathetic that people could resort to this level of barbarism against fellow humans, no matter the offense she might have committed”, another student, Nseobong Idiong, lamented.

Calling on security agencies to unravel those behind the crime, Comrade Ifiok Bassey, a Youth Activist, urged Governor Umo Eno to intervene by impressing on security agencies to stop the ugly trends.

“Similar sad incident happened about a week ago, where a young lady was also murdered and her head severed from the rest of the body around the UdoUdoma Banking Layout. The Police as usual came and took the headless body, and up till now, nothing is heard concerning the incident.

“And now this has happened again in similar fashion, the Police detachments have come to this scene like three times, and there’s likelihood nothing serious would be done to fish out and bring the perpetrators to book.

“Akwa Ibom state has been touted as one of the cleanest and security – conscious state in the last couple of years, yet these kinds of ugly developments keep denting the state’s image which has robbed – off negatively on the destination state of tourism and Foreign Direct Investments (FIDs) hub the Governor is trying to sustain”, he stressed.

However, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Odiko MacDon, while responding to the complaints raised by concerned residents on the latest incident, vowed to investigate, assuring that no stone would be left unturned in apprehending and bringing the culprits to justice as the Commissioner of Police (CP) Olatoye Durosinmi, has zero tolerance for crimes.

“We have received that report; it was just an unfortunate act, a dastardly one at that. It’s unfortunate that some people have no value for life; they can resort to barbaric act. We are no longer living in the Stone Age. How can a fellow human being treat his fellow human being that way”, he queried.
