Sports Ministry To Seal Partnership With Yucateco Boxing Promotions

There is an excitement in the boxing fraternity as the Ministry of Sports Development confirms its readiness to seal a partnership deal with Yucateco Boxing Promotions on talent discovery.

The Minister Of Sports Development, Senator John Owan Enoh, made this known at the recently held Yucateco Boxing Lifetime Achievements Merit Award in Lagos. Enoh, in his address at the event said the process of cementing a groundbreaking partnership between the Sports Ministry and Yucateco Boxing Promotions was at its final stages.

Enoh said: “I am pleased to announce that the Ministry of Sports will be signing a groundbreaking partnership with Yucateco Boxing promotions in the coming days, this partnership is in line with my agenda on talent discovery and exposure.

“Yucateco promotions has a functional model based on all they have done thus far, and we hope to key-into the existing structure by leveraging on their financial might and other technicalities, this we hope to perfect before the commencement of season two of the boxing league.”

Chairman CEO Yucateco Boxing Promotions, Omonlei Yakubu Imadu, said his outfit is open to working with the Ministry of Sports to change the phase and narratives of boxing in Nigeria.

“I have been receiving calls from boxing stakeholders both home and abroad on when this partnership will be formalized. On our part, we are ready and just waiting for the sports ministry to come through on their end,” Imadu stated.

“It will be a groundbreaking partnership that will completely change the phase of boxing in Nigeria, reason everyone is excited in anticipation.

“Our very reputable Sports Minister, Senator John Enoh, has confirmed the Ministry’s readiness to see this through in the coming days. So, let’s remain hopeful as we prepare for other events lined-up in the Yucateco boxing calendar.”

According to Imadu, the national open trial for season two of the Yucateco Boxing League will hold from Friday May 24th to Sunday 26th at the Brai Ayonote Boxing Gymnasium, National Stadium Surulere Lagos.
