NIHOTOUR rolls out achievements in 2023

National Institute for Hospitality and Tourism, NIHOTOUR, has rolled out its achievements in programmes and projects carried out in 2023.

This is contained in a report presented by the Director-General/CEO, NIHOTOUR, Alh Nura Sani Kangiwa and made available to newsmen by Joesef Karim the Institute’s Public Relations Officer.

The NIHOTOUR disclosed, “The following are brief details of different programmes and projects executed by National Institute for Hospitality and Tourism between January 2023 to December 2023. The programmes were either held at NIHOTOUR Campuses or at designated training centres across Nigeria’s Six-Geopolitical Zones.

It includes, “TRAINING ON TOUR OPERATION MANAGEMENT HELD IN ABUJA FOR MEMBERS OF NIGERIA ASSOCIATION OF TOUR OPERATORS, NATOP, – FEBRUARY 2023; The National Institute for Hospitality and Tourism trained 64 members of Nigeria Association of Tour Operators, NATOP, in Abuja on 20 February 2023.

“The training modules included, but not limited to, Tour Operation Enterprise Systems, Best Practices in Tour Guiding, Tour Package Marketing and Sales Strategies and Travels Computer Reservation Systems. The 64 NATOP member are licensed and practicing Tour Operators from States in the North-East, North-West, North-Central and the Federal Capital Territory. Afterwards, the trainees were presented with NIHOTOUR certificates.

“TRAINING ON TOUR OPERATION MANAGEMENT HELD IN ABUJA FOR MEMBERS OF NIGERIA ASSOCIATION OF TOUR OPERATORS, NATOP, – FEBRUARY 2023: The National Institute for Hospitality and Tourism trained 100 members of Nigeria Association of Tour Operators, NATOP, in Lagos on February 29, 2023. The training modules included, but not limited to, Tour Operation Enterprise Systems, Best Practices in Tour Guiding, Tour Package Marketing and Sales Strategies and Travels Computer Reservation Systems. The 100 NATOP member are licensed and practicing Tour Operators from States in the South-East, South-West, and South-South States. Afterwards, the trainees were presented with NIHOTOUR certificates. Nigeria Association of Tour Operators, NATOP, is the leading tour operator trade and professional association in Nigeria. NATOP has members across the 36 States of Nigeria and the FCT.

“EXHIBITION OF NAIJAFOODS AT NATIONAL TOURISM & TRANSPORT SUMMIT 2023 – MAY 2023; National Institute for Hospitality & Tourism, NIHOTOUR, exhibited Nigerian cuisines from the six-geopolical zones, tagged ‘NaijaFoods’, at the annual National Tourism & Transport Summit, NTTS, organized by Institute for Tourism Professionals in Nigeria, ITPN. The grand event held at the Abuja International Conference Centre on 17 May 2023. Typically, the National Tourism & Transport Summit is organized by ITPN in conjunction with other Ministries, Departments and Agencies including National Institute for Hospitality & Tourism, NIHOTOUR, the Federal Ministry of Aviation, Federal Ministry of Transportation, Nigerian Road Safety Corps, and others.

“VALIDATION OF NATIONAL OCCUPATIONAL SKILL LEVELS IN TH ABUJA – 15 JUNE 2023; Since 2013, the National Institute for Hospitality and Tourism, NIHOTOUR, has been coordinating the Hospitality and Tourism Sector Skills Council of Nigeria, HTSSCN, after the appointment by the National Board for Technical Education, NBTE. The Sector Skills Council is conglomeration of representatives from operators in Nigeria’s hospitality and tourism value-chain including hotels, restaurants, destinations, p arts, transporters and more. Accordingly, in fulfilment of this mandate, the National Institute for Hospitality and Tourism, NIHOTOUR, on 15 June 2023 led Hospitality and Tourism Sector Skills Council of Nigeria in validation of Five Hundred and Fifty-Five (555) National Occupational Skills Levels, NOS, being part of the Hospitality and Tourism National Skills Qualification Framework, NSQF, of Nigeria. Members of the Sector Skills Council and leaders in Nigeria’s tourism and hospitality private sector leaders, including the Federation of Tourism Associations of Nigeria, FTAN, Nigeria Association of Tour Operators, NATOP, National Association of Travel Agencies, NANTA, Hospitality and Tourism Management Association of Nigeria, HATMAN, and many others.

“SUSTAINABLE TOURISM ENTREPRENEURSHIP PROGRAMME (STEP) ‘TRAINING ON HOSPITALITY TRADECRAFT’ IN AYETORO, OGUN STATE – 25 TO 26 JULY 2023; The National Institute for Hospitality and Tourism, NIHOTOUR, Sustainable Tourism Entrepreneurship Programme, STEP, is an innovative training and empowerment programme of women and youths on Tourism Occupational Skills and Hospitality tradecrafts.

“The NIHOTOUR STEP programme is novel and designed to train, equip, and mentor trainees on hands-on skills and entrepreneurial capabilities to start their own businesses. The STEP training in Ayetoro Town, Ogun State, was on Hospitality Trade, specifically in the areas of Pastry and Confectionery. Trainees were taught hands-on methods of pastry and confectionery preparation, presentation, entrepreneurial development, and marketing of Doughnuts, Buns, Meat Pies, Cupcakes, Egg rolls and puff-puff.

“SUSTAINABLE TOURISM ENTREPRENEURSHIP PROGRAMME (STEP) ‘TRAINING ON HOSPITALITY TRADECRAFT’ IN MAKURDI, BENUE STATE – AUGUST 14 TH TO 17 2023
The National Institute for Hospitality and Tourism (NIHOTOUR) newly introduced Sustainable Tourism Entrepreneurship Programme (STEP) is an innovative training and empowerment programme on Tourism and Hospitality small business start-ups and sustainable operations in Nigeria.

“The NIHOTOUR STEP programme is novel and designed to train, equip and mentor trainees on hands-on skills and entrepreneurial capabilities for successful operation of graduands small businesses (start-ups) in the Tourism industry value-chain such as Cookery, Pastry, Confectionery, Tour Operation, Tour Guiding, and Travel Agency – ticketing and reservations. The STEP training in NIHOTOUR Campus Makurdi, Benue State, was on Hospitality Trade, specifically in the areas of Pastry and Confectionery. Trainees were taught hands-on methods of pastry and confectionery preparation, presentation , entrepreneurial development, and marketing of Bread rolls, Doughnuts, Chelsea buns, Meat Pies, Cupcakes, Egg rolls and Sausage rolls.

“SUSTAINABLE TOURISM ENTREPRENEURSHIP PROGRAMME (STEP) ‘TRAINING ON TOURISM OCCUPATIONAL SKILLS & HOSPITALITY TRADECRAFT’ IN LAFIA, NASARAWA STATE 14TH TO 17TH AUGUST 2023; The National Instute for Hospitality and Tourism, NIHOTOUR, Sustainable Tourism Entrepreneurship Programme, STEP, is an innovative training and empowerment programme of women and youths on Tourism Occupational Skills and Hospitality tradecrafts.

“The STEP training in Lafia, Nasarawa State, was on Tourism Occupational Skills and Hospitality Trade, specifically in the areas of hands-on methods of making and presentation of different types of Duvets and Throw-Pillows, as well as the entrepreneurial development strategies for starting their own businesses. Training on Tour Guiding and Operations in Nigeria focused on tour packaging and costing including best practices in destination Guiding, tourist handling and Tourism business management. “SUSTAINABLE TOURISM ENTREPRENEURSHIP PROGRAMME (STEP) ‘TRAINING ON HOSPITALITY TRADECRAFT’ IN BAUCHI, BAUCHI STATE – 23rd TO 24th AUGUST 2023; The National Institute for Hospitality and Tourism, NIHOTOUR, Sustainable Tourism Entrepreneurship Programme, STEP, is an innovative training and empowerment programme of women and youths on Tourism Occupational Skills and Hospitality tradecrafts.

“The NIHOTOUR STEP programme is novel and designed to train, equip, and mentor trainees on hands-on skills and entrepreneurial capabilities to start their own businesses.

“The STEP training in NIHOTOUR Bauchi Campus, Bauchi State, was on Hospitality Tradecraft in Making of various Spices and sundry flavoury ingredients.

“Trainees were taught hands-on methods of pastry and confectionery preparation, presentation, entrepreneurial development, and marketing of Chilli spice, Special tea, Curry powder and The National Institute for Hospitality and Tourism (NIHOTOUR) newly introduced Sustainable Tourism Entrepreneurship Programme (STEP) is an innovative training and empowerment programme on Tourism and Hospitality enterprise development in host communities.

“SUSTAINABLE TOURISM ENTREPRENEURSHIP PROGRAMME (STEP) ‘TRAINING ON HOSPITALITY TRADECRAFT’ IN ENUGU, TH TH ENUGU STATE – 25TH TO 26TH AUGUST 2023; The National Institute for Hospitality and Tourism, NIHOTOUR, Sustainable Tourism Entrepreneurship Programme (STEP) is an innovative training and empowerment programme of women and youths on Tourism Occupational Skills and Hospitality tradecrafts.

“The NIHOTOUR STEP programme is novel and designed to train, equip, and mentor trainees on hands- on skills and entrepreneurial capabilities to start their own businesses.
The STEP training in NIHOTOUR Enugu Campus, Enugu State, was on Hospitality Trade, specifically in the areas of Pastry and Confectionery.

“Trainees were taught hands- on methods of pastry and confectionery preparation, presentation, entrepreneurial development, and marketing of Doughnuts, Buns, Meat Pies, Cupcakes, Egg rolls and puff-puff.”

“SUSTAINABLE TOURISM ENTREPRENEURSHIP PROGRAMME (STEP) ‘TRAINING ON TOURISM OCCUPATIONAL SKILLS & HOSPITALITY TRADECRAFT’ IN ARGUNGU, KEBBI STATE 4th TO 6th SEPTEMBER 2023; The National Institute for Hospitality and Tourism (NIHOTOUR) Sustainable Tourism Entrepreneurship Programme (STEP) is an innovative training and empowerment programme of women and youths on Tourism Occupational Skills and Hospitality tradecrafts. The NIHOTOUR STEP programme is novel and designed to train, equip, and mentor trainees on hands-on skills and entrepreneurial capabilities to start their own businesses. The STEP training in NIHOTOUR Campus Argungu, Kebbi State, was on Tourism Occupational Skills and Hospitality Trade, specifically in the areas of Pastry and Confectionery, as well as training in leatherworks including shoemaking and bag making.

“Trainees were taught hands-on methods of pastry and confectionery preparation and presentation, different types of shoes and bags making, as well as the entrepreneurial development strategies of Egg rolls, Cupcakes, Doughnuts, Queen cakes and Fish rolls. On completion of the training, trainees were all given certificates. NIHOTOUR Campus in Argungu has one of the largest event halls in the locality and for this STEP training, the hall was filled with hundreds of indigenes, both women and youths, filled the hall. In keeping to traditions, there were separate sections for men and women.

“ANNUAL MASTER LECTURE SERIES – 16th JUNE 2023; The 2023 NIHOTOUR Annual Lecture Master Series themed “Culinary Arts: A Gateway to Growing Tourism Destination.” Organized every year to attract Hospitality and Tourism intellectuals who provide informative, engaging, and thought-provoking lectures on myriads issues that are germane to the development of Hospitality and Tourism sector in Nigeria.
This Annual Academic Exercise has no doubt proved to be a very veritable tool in enhancing the research base knowledge of the Institute’s academics. Additionally, it has immensely assisted in projecting the Institute’s image as a research and allied Institution. This is clearly in line with the Institute’s mandate, as a foremost trainer in the Nigeria’s Hospitality and Tourism sector.

“HOSTING OF MASTERCLASS ON TOURISM JOURNALISM – JUNE 16th 2023; The National Institute for Hospitality and Tourism (NIHOTOUR) organize Masterclass on Tourism Journalism. It was a training session in Abuja for Association of Nigerian Journalists and Writers of Tourism (ANJET). Membership of ANJET includes Nigerian journalists reporting in hospitality and tourism bits for leading news media organizations across Nigeria. There were also journalists from independent news reporters and online news corporations in the 1-day training at International Conference Centre Abuja.

“Speakers and Training facilitators at the 2023 Masterclass for ANJET members included Mr. Peter Igho, the famous TV producers from NTA; Otunba Olusegun Runsewe, the Director General of National Council for Arts & Culture; and Dr. David Manya Dogo, former Director, National Orientation Agency. The theme of the 2023 Masterclass was “Best Practices for Reporting Tourism Destinations.” The objective was to redirect tourism journalists focus on news reportage that facilitates destinations and host communities’ development for tourism.

“NIHOTOUR GASTRONOMY PICNIC AT KASPALAND JUNE 16th 2023; On the eve of 2023 NIHOTUR Gastronomy Day, the National Institute for Hospitality and Tourism (NIHOTOUR) hosted a large -scale picnic at ‘Kaspaland’ Waterfront within property of the National Stadium in Abuja. Attendees at the picnic include members of the Diplomatic Community in Nigeria, Heads of Government Agencies in Nigeria, Nigerian tourism and hospitality stakeholders and leaders, members of the tourism business community in Nigeria and staff of the National Institute for Hospitality and Tourism. It was an evening picnic that held from 4pm to 7pm. The picnic was headlined by some leading foods and beverages brand in Nigeria including Amstel Malta, Heineken, Jack Daniels, Desperado, Legend, Fayrouz, and others. At the picnic, NIHOTOUR showcased select ‘NaijaFoods’ for participants’ sampling. There were also lots of kayaking on lake, loads of music, and happy dancing!

“ANNUAL NIHOTOUR GASTRONOMY FESTIVAL -17th JUNE 2023; NIHOTOUR’s Gastronomy Festival is one of the largest and most culturally eclectic culinary arts and related gastronomy event in Africa. The event attracts over 5000 visitors and industry stakeholders who participate in the experimental learning of food production processes and indulge in free sampling of diverse Nigerian and international cuisines and beverages on display. Typically, the festival is laced with traditional gaiety and entertainments that highlight Nigeria’s rich cultural diversity, including musicals and dance choreography.

“NIHOTOUR Gastronomy Festival is conceptualised to upskill Nigerian gastronomes on nitty-gritties of preparation and presentation of foods, especially Nigerian traditional cuisines, with the objective of improving the expense of personnel in the industry. Moreover, due to the dearth of skilled culinary artists in Nigeria, NIHOTOUR Gastronomy Festival provides one of the best opportunities for hospitality and tourism stakeholders, students, and enthusiasts to have hands-on learning and perspectives on the sustainability of developing tourism destinations using activities of Gastronomy Festivals as promotional tools.

“NIHOTOUR ABUJA SUMMER CAMP FOR KIDS TRAINING IN HOSPITALITY & TOURISM
The summer vocational training in hospitality and tourism held in the NIHOTOUR Abuja campus from 17th to 31th of July 2023. The main aim of the training is to enable children at an early stage to acquire experience in a professional working environment.

“To obtain a significant practical knowledge and improve abilities and explore perspective career alternatives in the hospital and tourism industry. It also gives them the opportunity to build and refine on variety of skills such as teamwork, communication, and creativity. At the end of the training, the children were able to make different types of smoothies, Mojitos, Salads (both traditional and continental) biscuits, cakes, party jollof rice and many more. Housekeeping was included in the training.

“WAFFEST EXHIBITION OF NIGERIAN FOODS & BEVERAGES; The West African Food Festival (WAFEST) is organized annually by groups and association of Chef’s in various African Countries. This year’s WAFFEST was held in Lagos Nigeria between 9th to 14th August 2023.

“National Institute for Hospitality & Tourism (NIHOTOUR) participated actively throughout the event and showcased Nigerian cuisines under the ‘NaijaFoods’ – one of NIHOTOUR’s signature food exhibition events on the 11th of August 2023. The Institute stand was a beehive of activities with largescale display of different foods and beverages from Nigeria six-geopolical zones. At the end of the food festival, NIHOTOUR won the award of “Best Indigenous Food Presentation”.

“FOODS & BEVERAGES EXHIBITION AT 2023 AKWAABA TRAVEL MARKET 3rd TO 5th SEPTEMBER 2023; ‘AKWAABA’ is the popular name for the African Travel Market (AFTM). This year’s theme 19th edition and held in the Conference Halls of Eko Hotels & Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos Nigeria, from 3rd to 5th September 2023.

“The Governor of Cross River State, His Excellency Bassey Otu, performed the traditional ‘kick-off’ of the Exposition amidst colorful ceremonies and captivating activities amongst which, featured the 5 #Jollof Rice War.

“NIHOTOUR led the packs of other exhibitors to showcase cuisines including delicious and sweet savoured African cuisines, local drinks, and snacks. The NIHOTOUR free food stand was declared opened by the AFTM organiser, Ambassador Ikechi Uko as all laid siege to have a taste of ‘Sweetness’ from NIHOTOUR.

“NIHOTOUR also displayed plethora of NIHOTOUR published books, Journals and events promotional Fliers showcasing the Institute’s activities Nationwide and across all Campus locations and Activities.

“EXHIBITION OF FOODS AT BRAZ9JA – SEPTEMBER 2023; National Institute for Hospitality and Tourism participated in Braz9ja – a cultural event organized by the Embassy of Brazil in Abuja Nigeria.

“WORLD TOURISM DAY 2023 PLANNING & CELEBRATION – 27th SEPTEMBER 2023
Every year since 1975, the United Nations World Tourism Organisation, UNWTO, observed World Tourism Day on the 27th of September. This year’s World Tourism Day observance and celebration in Nigeria was held in Abuja and coordinated by the Federal Ministry of Tourism, Nigeria Tourism Development Authority and National Institute for Hospitality and Tourism (NIHOTOUR).

“The theme for 2023 World Tourism Day was “Tourism & Green Investments”. Activities during the WTD 2023 included Road Show, Press Conference and Stakeholder engagements. In all the activities NIHOTOUR was front and central to the success of the Day!

“NIHOTOUR HEAD OFFICE RELOCATION & RENOVATION; The head office of National Institute for Hospitality and Tourism, NIHOTOUR, in Abuja served both the national administrative centre of the Institute and equally as the Campus of the Institute in Nigeria. This resulted in lack of sufficient offices and training classes for students and staff of the Institute. Consequently, the Director General commenced searching for a bigger location to accommodate all the administrative needs and training mandates of the Institute.
Eventually, early in 2023, the Management of National Institute for Hospitality and Tourism (NIHOTOUR) secured a new location for the Institute head office and commenced renovation of the new structure which culminated in May 2013.

“The new office is located at No. 10, Amisi Musa Street, off Alex Ekwueme Street, Jabi District, Abuja. Hitherto, the Head Office was at No. 6, Mike Akhigbe Street, Jabi District Abuja. The new NIHOTOUR Head Office has sufficient office spaces for all Directors of the Institute, Workstations for large number of staff, a Boardroom, ATA Studio, ICT offices, parking lot, and demonstration kitchens for various trainings. Generally, the new NIHOTOUR head office is in a pristine location very close to the popular Jabi Lake.

“NIHOTOUR LAGOS CAMPUS RENOVATION – AUGUST 2023; The Lagos campus of National Institute for Hospitality and Tourism (NIHOTOUR) was massively renovated and upgraded to be more conducive for staff and students. Recall that NIHOTOUR Lagos campus is one of the pioneer campuses that were transferred to the Institute at its founding in 1987. It was then known as the Lagos Catering Institute. Since then, the campus has been sparingly renovated.
This year the renovation was massive and extensive including lecture halls, classrooms, staff offices, lecturers’/instructors’ offices generator house, overall painting of the blocks and structure, overhaul of the plumbing system and many other renovations within the campus. More so, the Director General had given a Coaster bus to Lagos Campus, from the head office in Abuja, to improve operations of the campus within Lagos and its catchment areas of the South-Western Nigeria.

“NIHOTOUR KADUNA CAMPUS RENOVATION – AUGUST 2023; The Kaduna campus of National Institute for Hospitality and Tourism (NIHOTOUR) was massively renovated and upgraded to be more conducive for staff and students. Recall that NIHOTOUR Kaduna campus is one of the pioneer campuses that were transferred to the Institute at its founding in 1987. It was then known as the Lagos Catering Institute. Since then, the campus has been sparingly renovated. This year the renovation was massive and extensive including lecture halls, classrooms, staff offices, lecturers’/instructors’ offices generator house, overall painting of the blocks and structure, overhaul of the plumbing system, water supply system and many other renovations within the campus.

“CO-HOSTING OF 2023 CMD FOOD TOUR & EXHIBITION; 14 countries showcased foods, beverages at 5th CMD Food Tour in Abuja.

“Saturday, 25th November 2023 in Abuja, the National Institute for Hospitality and Tourism, NIHOTOUR, in collaboration with CMD Tourism and Trade Enterprises hosted a culinary tourism food festival in Abuja at the Abuja Continental Hotel.

“Indigenous foods from Nigeria and fifteen other countries were showcased, and freely sampled by the public.

Diplomatic community in Nigeria that showcased at the Food Tour includes: Cameroun, Senegal, Cote d’Ivoire, Ghana, Malaysia, Philippines, Burkina Faso, Trinidad & Tobago, Tunisia, Egypt, Botswana, Uganda, Ethiopia, and South Africa.

The Director General of NIHOTOUR, represented by Dr. Taiwo Famogbiyele, welcomed participants at the CMD food festival and remarked that, “following the success of the 3rd NIHOTOUR Gastronomy Festival that held in June 2023 at the Abuja International Conference Centre, among others, NIHOTOUR is collaborating with CMD Tourism and Trade Enterprises to host the 5th edition of the CMD FoodTour to create new opportunities for Nigerian tourism destination, enhance our market presence, and expand Nigeria’s reach in the global gastronomy tourism industry.”

The DG, Nura Kangiwa, concluded that, “we see the partnership with CMD Tourism and Trade Enterprises as a consolidation of NIHOTOUR’s efforts in positioning Nigeria as a leading gastronomy tourism destination in Africa. More so, as a training institute saddled with capacity development of tourism personnel in the industry, our partnership with CMD Tourism, and indeed with other stakeholders in the industry, is aimed at improving the sector-specific knowledge and Nigeria’s capacity of hosting signature Food Festivals that depict our traditions, cultures, and diversity of our hospitality offerings.”

The theme for the 2023 Food Tour is “Around the World in a Day”. To this end, the Chief Executive Officer of CMD Tourism and Trade Enterprises, Ms. Cecile Doumbe, enthused that, “this 5th edition is a fulfilment of our commitment to Nigerian and international food tourism event hosted in Abuja Nigeria. Because for us, this Food Tour hinges on Nigerian tourism development discussions around. Fact is, CMD Food Tour is driven by Tourism Sustainability,
Responsibility and Inclusiveness for all. The CMD Food Tour avails Nigerians and foreigner’s resident in Nigeria the opportunity to engage and explore with other culinary cultures without physically traveling.”

When asked about the impact of the 5th CMD Food Tour, the Ambassador of Cote D’Ivoire, Ambassador Traiore revealed that the Embassy is partnering with NIHOTOUR and CMD for the promotion of African gastronomy, particularly the Ivorian gastronomy, here in Nigeria. But beyond food, our participation in this event is to strengthen ties of fraternity and to promote regional tourism development.

The National Institute for Hospitality and Tourism is a parastatal of the Federal Government of Nigeria empowered to Train, Certify and Register all personnel in Nigeria’s travel, tourism, and hospitality sectors. The Institute has 12 campuses located in the Nigeria’s 6 Geopolitical Zones.

“FOOD EXHIBITION AT ZUMA FILM FESTIVAL – 5th DECEMBER 2023; The festival’s focus is on harnessing potentials and opportunities inherent in the convergence of diverse cultures of the world through the audio-visual medium. 5th Day of December was however set aside for NIHOTOUR Gastronomy. NIHOTOUR apart from exhibiting Nigerian Cuisines also organized cake decoration competition for which winners were awarded certificates and cash prizes.

“TRAINING OF ENUGU STATE TOURISM BOARD STAFF; Continuous manpower development and capacity building is a sine qua non for sustainable growth of hospitality and tourism. Such trainings are not only necessary but inevitable for the growth and development of tourism in any given state. Consequent upon this NIHOTOUR organized a 1- Week FREE training for the Enugu State Tourism Board in the areas of 1. Managing Tourism Resources for Sustainable Development (Executive Course 1) 2. Hospitality Operation Practice for Hotel Workers. The trainings held at the NIKE Lake Hotel Enugu from 5th – 9th December 2023.

“NIHOTOUR MOBILE TRAINING KITCHEN LAUNCH – DECEMBER 2023; The National Institute for Hospitality and Tourism procured and upgraded a second mobile kitchen for provision of trainings and catering services in communities across Nigeria where there’re no NIHOTOUR Campuses yet. The Mobile teaching kitchens can be used to educate underserved communities. NIHOTOUR had in 2022 launched the first Mobile Training Kitchen. The NIHOTOUR mobile kitchen comes complete with equipment and utensils for demonstration cooking and other forms of foods and beverages preparation and presentation. NIHOTOUR mobile kitchen includes a food-grade utility cart that contains cooking tools such as Safety knives, cutting board, Water infusers, Mortar and pestle sets, Salad spinners, Measuring cups, Steel mixing bowls, Food storage containers, water storage tanks, drawers, and cabinets for plates, et cetera.

“HATMAN – NIHOTOUR PROJECT TRAINING IN KANO CAMPUS – SEPTEMBER 2023; National Institute for Hospitality and Tourism (NIHOTOUR) in fulfilment of her training mandate organized a ‘Hospitality Executive Management Course’ for operators in the industry. The training was jointly organized with Hospitality and Tourism Management Association of Nigeria (HATMAN). It held for two days from 11th to 12th September at NIHOTOUR campus Bagauda, Kado.

“CAPACITY DEVELOPMENT TRAINING IN ARGUNGU CAMPUS – DECEMBER 2023; The Argungu Campus of National Institute for Hospitality and Tourism (NIHOTOUR) organized a ‘Capacity development workshop and overview of NIHOTOUR activities for the year’ for staff of the Institute in the campus. The event held at main hall of the campus. Speaker of the day was Alhaji Udu Abubakar Idris, former Head of Speaker of the day was Alhaji Udu Abubakar Idris MNI, former Head of Service Kebbi State presented a lecture on “General Rules and Regulations of Civil service”. Dignitaries from Argungu Emirate Council were in attendance as Special Guests of Honour including Alhaji Ibrahim Hassan Kwaido – Kundudan Kabi – among others.”
