Iwobi, Bassey’s Goals Help Fulham End 15-year Winless Run Against Man United

Alex Iwobi and Calvin Bassey emerged as the heroes as their goals earned Fulham a shock 2-1 win against Manchester United at Old Trafford.

Before Saturday’s Premier League clash, the last time Fulham defeated United was on 19 December, 2009.

Iwobi’s late strike means he is the first Fulham player to score a winning goal at Old Trafford since Steed Malbranque in October 2003.

While Iwobi now has four Premier League goals this season, Bassey netted his first-ever goal for Fulham.

Fulham took the lead in the 65th minute as Bassey volleyed into the roof of the net off a rebound from a corner.

Harry Maguire thought he had earned at least a point for United when he slotted home on 89 minutes.

But in the 97th minute Iwobi got the winner, as he collected a pass from a counter, cut inside and shot into the net with Andre Onana stranded.

At Villa Park, Taiwo Awoniyi provided an assist but Nottingham Forest lost 4-2 to Aston Villa.

With Villa 3-0 ahead, Forest pulled a goal back in the fifth minute of first half stoppage time as Awoniyi set up Moussa Niakhate to make it 3-1.

The Super Eagles striker was replaced by Divock Origi before the start of the second half.
