Cyriel Dessers is determined to score more goals for Rangers after scoring the winning the goal in the club’s 2-1 win at St. Mirren on Sunday.

Dessers fired home the decisive goal 14 minutes from time.

It was the Nigeria international’s 20th across all competitions for the Light Blues this season.

Dessers told RangersTV: “20 goals is a beautiful number, but I don’t want to stop there – I want to keep going and I want more.

“Not a lot of Rangers strikers got there in the last years so I think it is a nice milestone for me.

“To score a winner in a game like that feels good. There is no room for errors now so we are very happy we got the win.

“It is not new for Tav – not only this season but also in his whole career, he has give many assists like this, but it was an unbelievable cross which the goalkeeper misread and I was there to make the goal.

“This is a tricky place and we knew that before the game. I think without maybe having a real superstar, this is one of the best teams in the league and you could see they had a clear game plan which they executed well and gave us a lot of difficulties.

“But, we were patient, we knew our moments would come, they would get tired and we made good use of that.”

Dessers also praised goalkeeper Jack Butland for his contribution – which included an incredible stop on the brink of half-time to ensure the scores remained level.

He continued: “That’s not new either! Jack has been there for us in important moments and today is a game he can pick out as an important game again with some great saves, especially the one right before half time was unbelievable.”
