Former Nigerian international, Andrew Aikhoumogbe believes Super Eagles coach, Finidi George can qualify Nigeria to the 2026 World Cup if he gets the right support.

Recall that last week Monday, the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) announced Finidi as the new senior national team handler after the departure of Jose Peseiro.

However, in a chat with Completesports.com, Aikhoumogbe stated that Finidi’s understanding of the players having been there as an assistant will create a soft landing for him in terms of players selection.

“I feel very happy for Finidi George on his appointment as the Super Eagles head coach. This appointment calls for more hardwork from him because a lot will be expected from him.

“But then, I believe with the right support, Finidi will get the job done in terms of qualifying the Super Eagles to the 2026 World Cup. That is his major priority and I also believe that he will deliver.”

The three-time African champions are yet to record a win in the qualifiers after drawing their opening two games against Lesotho and Zimbabwe.
