After several months of back and forth, the federal government has resolved to inaugurate the tripartite committee on negotiation of a new national minimum wage.

According to a memo cited by Nigerian Pilot, the inauguration will be taking place on Tuesday, 30th of January 2024 at the council chamber Presidential villa, state house Abuja.

The Memo signed by Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume, noted that the inauguration of the committee follows an approval by President Bola Tinubu.

Our Correspondent reports that the minimum wage was reviewed from N18,000 to N30,000 on April 18, 2019, after several years of back-and-forth.

The country is due to have a new minimum wage by April 2024.

Organised labour has recently threatened to embark on an industrial action if the government continues to treat the issue with levity.
