Europa: Tella Subbed On, Boniface Benched As Leverkusen Beat Roma 2-0, Lookman’s Atalanta Draw At Marseille

Bayer Leverkusen recorded a 2-0 win away to Roma, in the first leg of their Europa League semi-final tie on Thursday.

It is now 47 games unbeaten in all competitions for Bayer Leverkusen this season.

While Victor Boniface was an unused substitute, Nathan Tella was brought on in the 77th minute.

A goal in each half from Florian Wirtz and Robert Andrich sealed the first leg win.

Wirtz opened the scoring in the 28th minute, as he slotted pass the Roma keeper off a pass from Alex Grimaldo who capitalised on a poor back pass by a Roma player.

In the 73rd minute Andrich doubled Leverkusen’s lead with a volley from outside the box.

In France, Atalanta held Olympique Marseille to a 1-1 draw with Ademola Lookman coming on in the 59th minute.

Gianluca Scamacca had given Atalanta the lead in the 11th minute before Chancel Mbemba equalised for Marseille on 20 minutes.

The two Semi-final second legs will come up next week Thursday.
