Chief Timipre Sylva, Wife Mrs. Alayingi Sylva Honored with Eminent Peace Ambassadors Award

Former Governor of Bayelsa State and ex-Minister for Petroleum Resources, Chief Timipre Sylva, and his wife, Mrs. Alayingi Sylva, have been honored with the prestigious Eminence Peace Ambassadors Award.

The global accolade recognized their outstanding contributions to peace and humanitarian causes, positioning them as diplomats on the international stage.

The ceremony, held at Ganya Gardens Hotel in Wuse 2, Abuja, witnessed the presence of esteemed figures, including Chief Ambassador Dr. John Mitchie and Ambassador Per Stafse, President of the International Association of World Peace Advocates (IAWPA), Former, Program coordinator of the Presidential Amnesty Programme, PAP, Paul Boroh among others.

Amb. Emmanuel Nkweke, spokesperson for IAWPA, emphasized the organization’s dedication to promoting peace across the 193 member states of the United Nations. He lauded Mrs. Alayingi Sylva for meeting the criteria to become a UN Peace Ambassador, citing her impactful efforts in social-economic development, investment, and assistance to the less privileged.

Receiving the award on Chief Sylva’s behalf, Mr. Julius Bokoru, a media practitioner, expressed deep gratitude. He attributed the recognition to Chief Sylva’s commitment to peace, citing initiatives such as the Amnesty Programme during the Niger Delta turmoil and advocacy for the Petroleum Industry Bill (PIB) as Minister for Petroleum Resources. Bokoru conveyed Chief Sylva’s dedication to increasing efforts in global peace-building.

Mrs. Alayingi Sylva, known for her humility and remarkable contributions to humanity, shared her joy in receiving over 130 prestigious awards over the years. She highlighted her passion for solving problems and bringing succor to the less privileged, citing examples such as providing scholarships to orphans and collaborating on healthcare initiatives.

Mrs. Sylva, an entrepreneur and CEO of various establishments, including Blossom Natural Food Industries Limited and WalkTall Global Services, expressed her commitment to healthy living. She is also the founder of the Centre for Gender Values and Culture, providing scholarships for out-of-school children nationwide.

Mrs. Sam Ogbuku, wife of Chief Sam Ngbuku (NDDC Chairman), commended Mrs. Sylva’s dedication to helping the less privileged. She urged women to emulate Mrs. Sylva’s efforts for peace and development in their respective domains.

Honorable Mrs. Susan Lokpobiri, wife of the Minister for Petroleum and Oil in Nigeria, described Mrs. Alayingi Sylva as a hardworking, peacemaking, and God-fearing woman. She commended her for being an ambassador of peace and encouraged her to continue her impactful work.

The ceremony also featured statements from various dignitaries, including calls for unity among women in politics and the hope for Nigeria to produce a female president in the future.
