Boniface, Tella, Leverkusen Teammates Set New European Club Record

Victor Boniface, Nathan Tella and their Bayer Leverkusen teammates have set a new European club record.

The newly crowned Bundesliga champions scored a late goal to draw 1-1 with West Ham, in the Europa League quarter-finals second leg on Thursday.

Jeremie Frimpong equalised in the 89th minute to cancel out the Hammers’ opener.

Leverkusen scale through to the semi-finals 3-1 on aggregate and maintained their unbeaten run.

Boniface and Tella were in action for Xabi Alonso’s men.

The draw means Leverkusen are unbeaten in 44 consecutive matches in all competitions (38 wins, six draws).

They have now set a new record for a team in the big-five European leagues, the previous record holder was Juventus with 43 games from May 2011 to May 2012.

Leverkusen are in the running for the German Cup and the Europa League.

They will take on Kaiserslautern in the German Cup final in May.
