Bandits kill four, abduct six in Zamfara

Gunmen suspected to be terrorists on Wednesday attacked the headquarters of Maru Local Government Area of Zamfara State, killing one and abducting three others.

According to an eyewitness, Abubakar Maru who spoke to newsmen in a telephone interview, the bandits stormed the town around 11:13 pm on Wednesday.

He further stated that the armed bandits operated freely in the town for over two hours.

“The bandits operated for over two hours freely in the town and as I am talking to you now, many residents of the town, mainly women and children, have fled for their safety,” he added.

DAILY POST also gathered that in Zurmi town, the headquarters of Zurmi Local Government Area of the state, bandits also struck around 10:30 pm on Wednesday, in an attempt to kidnap the emir of Zurmi, Alh. Bello Muhammed Bunu.

A resident of the area, Malam Ibrahim Zurmi said that the terrorists invaded the palace of the emir and the residence of a one time military administrator of Nasarawa State, Col. Bala Mande.

According to him, the emir has been taken away to Gusau by security operatives.

He further explained that the bandits killed three persons, while three others were also kidnapped during the operation.

However, efforts to contact the spokesman of Zamfara State the Police Command, ASP Yazid Abubakar, were not successful as at the time of filing this report.
