AFCON 2023: Onana Left Out As 10-Man Guinea Hold Cameroon To Draw

Despite playing most part of the game against 10 men, Cameroon’s Indomitable Lions could only settle for a 1-1 draw against Guinea in Group C at the AFCON 2023.

Manchester United goalkeeper Andre Onana was not included in the Cameroon team squad.

Onana only arrived Cameroon’s camp today (Monday) after featuring in United’s 2-2 home draw against Tottenham in Sunday’s Premier League game.

Mohamed Bayo opened the scoring for Guinea in the 10th minute.

But in the third minute of first half stoppage time Guinea captain Francois Kamano was sent off for a dangerous tackle.

Cameroon capitalised on the sending off and equalized thanks to Frank Magri.

All efforts by the Indomitable Lions to find the winner was futile as the Guineans held on for the draw.

In the other game in Group C, reigning champions Senegal defeated Gambia 3-0 thanks to goals from Pape Gueye and Lamine Camara.

Cameroon will now take on Senegal in their next game on Friday, 19 January.
